Customize your close of day

  • About your close of day

    Square groups and sends payments based on the time you choose to close your business each day. This time is referred to as your “close of day.” By default, your close of day is 5 PM PT/8 PM ET. To ensure that a full day’s business activity is included in one transfer, you can customize your close of day to your preferred time.

    Customizing your close of day is ideal for businesses that stay open after 5 PM PT/8 PM ET (or your time zone’s equivalent). If you choose a close of day time after 5 PM PT/8 PM ET (or your time zone’s equivalent), your transfer is sent according to the transfer type you’ve selected for a specific day. It’s recommended that you set your close of day one hour after your actual closing time to provide a window for last-minute sales.

    Before you begin

    You can set your close of day from your Square Dashboard. To set or update your close of day, you must have a bank account linked to your Square account. Learn how to link and edit your bank account.

    Payments taken after 5 PM PT/8 PM ET will be available in your bank account by the second business day. Next business day transfers are delayed one business day, and you will receive your funds within two business days, excluding weekends and holidays. Learn how to set up and edit transfer options.

    Set a close of day time

    You can set a custom close of day time for each day of the week from your Square Dashboard.

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard, then go to Account & settings > Business information > Transfers.

    2. Choose a day of the week and set your time zone and your close of day time. 

    3. Apply these settings to the rest of the week.

    4. Select Save.
