Turn on seating status with third-party reservation apps

    With Square for Restaurants, you can integrate and use third-party reservation apps (such as Opentable) to improve server workflows and streamline the beginning of service. With Seated Status enabled, Square for Restaurants automatically creates a new check when you mark guests as seated in your booking platform, so your servers can begin taking orders right away.

    Before you begin

    You can enable seated status from your Square Dashboard. To enable seated status, you need to connect a third-party reservation app from the Square App Marketplace.

    Enable seated status

    Once your Square for Restaurants account is connected to an existing third-party reservation app, you can enable seated status from your Square Dashboard.

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Settings > Device Management.

    2. Click Service settings > Seated Status.

    3. If applicable, select a location with a third-party reservation app connection.

    4. Toggle ON Seated status.

    5. Click Save.
