About Virtual Terminal settings

To make Square Virtual Terminal work for your business, you can manage Virtual Terminal settings from your Square Dashboard to choose accepted payment methods, customise how transactions appear in customer statements, connect accessories to Virtual Terminal, and more.

Before you begin

  • To use Square Virtual Terminal, you’ll need to sign in to your Square Dashboard.

  • Use a compatible web browser on your computer such as Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.

Manage checkout settings

  1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Payments > Virtual Terminal > Settings > Checkout.

  2. Configure default transaction types and manage service charges and tipping.

You can customise the payment types you accept and arrange them in the order you’d like them to be displayed on the Virtual Terminal.

Connect accessories to Virtual Terminal

You can connect a compatible USB barcode scanner to your computer to easily add items to a transaction in Virtual Terminal. Once you connect your scanner, click the barcode scanner icon during checkout to add items.

At this time, Bluetooth barcode scanners aren't compatible with Virtual Terminal.
