Set Up Release Manager

    With Release Manager, you get access to features from Square for Restaurants before their official release. Release Manager lets you opt in to new features early on a per-device basis, so you can enable features on your devices at your convenience. You can also enable features on a single device to train your staff before enabling features on all relevant devices.

    Enable new features

    To enable features from Release Manager:

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and select Settings > Release Manager

    2. Select Enable for device.

    3. Select the device or devices on which you’d like to enable the feature. Only relevant devices that can support the new feature or functionality will be available to select. The device name should match the device name listed in the device hub.

    4. Select Enable.

    Disable features

    Disabling a feature is only available during the opt-in period. After the opt-in period ends, all relevant devices will have the feature enabled.

    To disable features from Release Manager:

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and select Settings > Release Manager

    2. Select Manage.

    3. Select Revert back selected devices.

    4. Select the device or devices on which you’d like to disable the feature.

    5. Select Revert.

    Square Register or Square Terminal

    To see the feature enabled or disabled on Square Register or Square Terminal:

    1. If your device is connected to the Internet, you will see a message to restart your device the next time you sign in using your PIN code.
    2. Hold down the power button for five seconds until you see the prompt to restart.
    3. Sign in using your PIN code to see the new feature enabled on your device.

    iOS device

    Close out of the Square for Restaurants app, then reopen. If your device is connected to the Internet, you will see the new feature enabled on your device the next time you sign in.

    To see the feature enabled or disabled on an Android device:

    1. If your device is connected to the Internet, you will see a message to restart your device the next time you sign in using your PIN code.
    2. Swipe up to close out of the app, then reopen the app.
    3. Sign in using your PIN code to see the new feature enabled on your device.
