Before you begin

If you run out of an item or modifier in your inventory or want to no longer sell an item or modifier, you can 86 the items by marking them as “sold out” from your Square Restaurants POS app or on Square Register or Square Terminal running Square for Restaurants.

Marks items as unavailable 

You can automatically set items to show as unavailable when the inventory reaches a set amount or manually list them as unavailable.

Automatically set items to unavailable

  1. Open your Square Restaurants POS app and tap Account > Items.
  2. Select the item you want to make unavailable.
  3. Under Price and inventory, tap Manage Stock.
  4. Tap Stock received. If you are tracking stock, change your stock count to 0. If you are not tracking stock, select Mark as unavailable.
  5. Tap Done > Save.

Manually mark items as unavailable

  1. Open your Square Restaurants POS app and tap Account > Items.
  2. Select the item you want to make unavailable.
  3. Under Price and inventory, tap Manage Stock.
  4. Toggle on Label as sold out at this location.
  5. Tap Done > Save.

Mark modifiers as unavailable

You can mark modifiers as sold out or unavailable from your Square Dashboard or Restaurants POS. The sold out or unavailable state displays across all your sales channels. Marking a modifier as sold out does not extend to third-party integrations.

Square Dashboard

  1. Log in to your Square Dashboard and click Items & orders > Items > Modifiers.
  2. Select the modifier you want to edit.
  3. Under Stock status, toggle off In stock.
  4. Click Save.

Square Restaurants POS app

  1. Open your Restaurants POS app and tap Account.
  2. Tap Items > Modifiers and select a modifier set.
  3. Toggle off the Available status.
