Create and manage your Square for Franchises loyalty program

    A loyalty program is a points-based system. Customers accumulate points on orders from all locations within the same franchise and can spend accrued points in person, online, or through your mobile app. You can create multiple loyalty rules specific to time of day or certain time periods.

    With loyalty for Square for Franchises, you can manage your loyalty programs and loyalty accounts across your entire franchise organization. This means that if points are accrued at location A, buyers can redeem/spend points at location B, as long as all locations are enabled for loyalty orchestration.

    Before you begin

    To create a loyalty program with Square for Franchises, you must have loyalty set up by Square Support. If you need help setting up loyalty for Square for Franchises, contact Square Support.

    Setting up your loyalty program requires you to navigate between your Square Dashboard and Square for Franchises dashboard. If you create a loyalty program with item rewards, make sure all franchisees sell those items. 

    Any loyalty program rules that you create with Square for Franchises will not apply to your Square Loyalty programs. OIf you utilize Square for Franchises Online Ordering, you can implement a sign-up earning rule, where customers accrue points for signing up to your Online Ordering page or app. Additionally, for Square for Franchises Online Ordering, you can set up time-specific earning rules, allowing customers to accrue points during specific times or days of the week.

    If a customer was registered but does not have a phone number on file, they are automatically considered as not enrolled in the loyalty program. Their account will not sync to other franchisee locations and the information remains only on the Square account where they registered.

    Square Loyalty Subscriptions for franchisees should be enabled at all times for the franchisee to continue being part of loyalty orchestration.

    Add a loyalty program

    1. Sign in to your Square for Franchises dashboard, then go to Marketing, and select Loyalty.

    2. Select Add Loyalty program.

    3. Customize the terminology of your loyalty program to fit your brand, and select Next.

    4. Set up your earning rules. From the Earn by drop-down menu, select how customers will earn points: Amount spent, Specific item, or Any item from category. Depending on what you select, enter the eligible spend amount or select the item or category, and enter the earning amount.

    5. If you want to allow customers to earn points when they sign up for your loyalty program, select + Add sign up rule and enter how many points customers can earn.

    6. Select Next.

    7. Set up your rewards that customers can earn. Enter a Reward name, Reward description, Minimum Points (the minimum amount of points for redeeming a reward), and Reward Points (how many points this reward costs). Select if this reward applies to the online store, physical store, or both.

    8. Set up discounts. Select the Level at which the discount applies (entire sale, specific items, or items from specific categories), and the Amount. Select the Maximum reward usages and the Currency.

    9. Toggle Apply discount for paid modifiers on or off as needed.

    10. Select participating locations, and select Next.

    11. Review the loyalty program information and select Save.

    Add time-specific earning rules

    1. Sign in to your Square for Franchises dashboard, then go to Loyalty.

    2. Select ••• > Edit.

    3. Under Time Specific Earning Rules, select Add new rule.

    4. Add a title and the location you’d like to apply the time-specific earning rule to.

    5. Enter the duration that you’d like to add as your time-specific earning rule. 

    6. In Amount Spend, select the amount that the customer must spend in order to earn the time-specific points.

    7. Select Save.

    Add a sign-up earning rule

    Customers can also accrue points for signing up through the online ordering page or app. If you did not add a sign-up earning rule during loyalty set up, you can set one up through your Square for Franchises Dashboard. 

    1. Sign in to your Square for Franchises dashboard, then go to Marketing, and select Loyalty.

    2. Under Sign Up Earning Rule, select Add New Rule > Sign up Earn Rule.

    3. Enter the amount of points a customer can earn when signing up.

    4. Select Save.

    Add rewards

    1. Sign in to your Square for Franchises dashboard, then go to Loyalty.

    2. Select an existing loyalty program. Under Redeeming Rewards, select Add New Rule.

    3. Enter the Reward name, Reward description, Minimum Points, and Reward Points.

    4. For Applies to, select where the reward applies.

    5. For Discount, you can set a check-based fixed dollar, check-based percentage, item-based fixed dollar, or item based percentage discount.

    6. Enter the discounted amount or percentage, select your currency, and select the item or category available for the reward.

    7. By default, the discount you set applies to all modifiers of the items. To exempt modifiers from the discount, toggle off Apply discount for paid modifiers. The discount will then only apply to the base price of the item or check and exclude the price of the modifiers.

    8. Select Save.
