About splitting and merging open tickets

If a party needs separate checks, you can split an open ticket and charge customers individually. You can also merge multiple tickets to one master ticket.

Before you begin

  • You can only split an open ticket from the Square POS apps on an iPad or Android tablet.

  • You can only merge multiple tickets to one master open ticket from the Square POS apps on an iPad.

You can only split and merge existing open tickets. Learn how to create and edit open tickets.

Split an open ticket

  1. Open your Square POS app.

  2. Tap Checkout > Tickets.

  3. Select a ticket to open it.

  4. Tap Review sale > ••• > Split ticket.

  5. Select the item(s) you want to move to a new ticket.

  6. Tap Create New Ticket > Save All.

  7. The new ticket(s) name will be saved as Ticket Name 2, Ticket Name 3, etc.

Merge open tickets

  1. Open your Square POS app.

  2. Tap Checkout > Tickets.

  3. Select a ticket to open it.

  4. Tap Review sale > ••• > Move ticket.

  5. Select the ticket(s) you want to merge the ticket into.

  6. Tap Move.

You cannot merge tickets that result in a ticket with over 500 items.
