How can I get started with Square Appointments?

You can get started with Square Appointments features by heading to your online Square Dashboard. Create staff, services and set up your online booking site.

What is the difference between Square Appointments  Free, Plus or Premium plans?

Can I get a free trial for Square Appointments Plus or Premium?

Yes! You can sign up for a free 30-day trial to take advantage of the Plus or Premium plan features and tools.

How can I switch from my current solution?

You can bulk import your customer list and inventory list to quickly get up and running with Square Appointments.

Can I add booking with Appointments to my existing website?

Yes! If you already have a website, you can add the Appointments online booking widgetto create a booking button. If you don’t have a website, Appointments offers a free online booking site for your clients to book online.

Will my Loyalty Programme work with the Square Appointments app?

Yes! Clients can earn points/stars when you check them out from the Appointments app. However, to update your customer’s Loyalty status manually, you’ll need to use the Point of Sale app.

Can I use passcodes to track my staff’s sales?

While you can use passcodes to track staff hours, it’s not recommended that you use team passcodes to track staff sales. The sale will automatically be associated with the staff member the appointment was booked with.

What if I don’t want to give my staff full access?

You can limit your staff’s access to Appointments by adjusting their individual employee profile.

  • Service Provider: Allows staff members to manage their own calendar.

  • Front Desk: Access to all staff calendars.

  • Manager: Allows access to all calendars and account information. Manager role also allows staff members to sync their personal Google Calendar to Square Appointments.

Note: All of the above pre-set permission groups will automatically have Access Mobile Point of Sale enabled, with limited access. If you create a new group, you’ll need to make sure to manually enable this setting to allow your staff access to the Appointments app.

Which Square hardware supports the Appointments app?

The Appointments app can work with Square Reader, Square Stand and Square Register. The Appointments app on Square Terminal is not supported at this time.

Can I use Square Appointments to schedule classes or group bookings?

Not at this time.

What happens if my client cancels last minute or doesn’t turn up for their appointment?

You can create a customised cancellation policyand set up No-Show Protection to make sure you still receive payment.

Why is my client seeing appointment times in a different time zone?

The time zone on your client’s computer will set the time zone on your booking flow and reminder emails.

Your client can select a different time zone when booking. Learn more about online booking.

How can I cancel my free trial?

There isn’t a way to cancel the free trial with Appointments. At the end of the trial, you’ll be notified that 30 days have passed. You can either discontinue the use of Square Appointments or subscribe by choosing your preferred payment method.

Note: To make sure that you’ve successfully discontinued your free trial or subscription, visit the Pricing and subscriptions page on your online Square Dashboard.

Where can I use Square Appointments?

Square Appointments is only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and Spain at this time.

We’re looking to bring online scheduling software to other markets, but there’s no specific timeline for international availability.

What do I do if my account is paused or my payment method had failed and I want to migrate to one of the new subscriptions?

If you’re an existing Appointments user and you do not see the migration page in your Appointments dashboard, please go to Pricing & Subscriptions and unpause your account or update your payment method on file. After your subscription is reactivated, navigate back to your Appointments Dashboard and you should see a ‘Select New Subscription’ page on the side navigation bar. From here, you can migrate to one of the new subscription plans.
Note: With the new Appointments Free plan, you are not able to pause your account. However, you can pause your Appointments Plus or Premium plan at any time.

Can I create and send liability or waiver forms ?

Yes, with Square Appointments, you have the ability to create and automatically send your own contracts to collect consent from customers when they book for free.

To get started:

  1. Go to your online Square Dashboard.

  2. Create a contract template for a location by going to Customers > Contracts > Templates > Create a template. Make at least one clause, and then Save the template.

  3. Once the Contract template is created and saved, go to your Square Appointments Dashboard > select Settings > Communications.

  4. Scroll to Digital Contracts add one of the templates you’ve previously created and saved.

  5. Select whether you want this contract to send to any customer or only customers who haven’t completed this form before), and/or to send only for specific services or service categories then Click Save. You’ll find the new contract template saved under Digital Contracts.

Can I use the Bookings API with Square ? 

Yes, the Bookings API lets developers create applications for Square sellers and their customers to create and manage bookings. With the Bookings API, developers can read and write booking data with both buyer and seller-level permissions. 

Note: Read operations are included with Square Appointments. To perform write operations with seller-level permissions, sellers must be subscribed to Square Appointments Plus.
