Square specialists are not Square employees. They are experienced marketers, designers, and developers who partner with Square to provide services to our sellers. These specialists offer support for a range of business tasks:

• Online store setup
  Build a brand-new website or online store, redesign an existing site, or migrate a site to Square.

• Marketing and search
  Capture more leads and expand your online presence through SEO, social media, and sales initiatives.

• Custom development and integration
  Add store features using custom code or enable Square connection with your ERP, CRM, and accounting systems.

• Square product implementation
  Learn how to set up your Square POS or other Square products to customize your needs.

• Professional services
  Get expert guidance on strategy, taxes, bookkeeping, and financial services for your business.

Before you engage with a specialist, it is important to identify your needs and goals. Knowing this will help your specialist understand what you hope to accomplish and ensure alignment. Here are some tips to help you prepare:

• Outline the work that you need help with and what you hope to achieve.
• Make sure your accounts are ready and easily accessible for your specialist.
• Provide any example work or insights from similar businesses to help define your needs.
• Define your budget, timeline, and expected outcomes in detail to allow your specialist to provide an accurate quote.

There are two ways you can find a specialist:

1. Directory
You can browse the Square Specialists Directory on your own and filter your search by service, industry, budget, and location.
2. Matchmaking
You can submit a project brief and have Square find a specialist for you based on the information you provide.

For both routes you will need to log in to your Square account and submit a project brief, as the information in the brief is also sent to the specialist. Information added to the brief will not affect your Square account.

Note that submitting a project brief does not mean you are committed to working with a specialist. You can decide whether you want to hire them. Your commitment to the specialist begins once you agree on the scope of the project and payment is made.

After you submit a project brief, the specialist will review it. This can take up to 48 business hours. Once the specialist accepts your project, you can expect an email communication to come your way in one to two business days.

Remember to check your spam folder, as emails can sometimes end up there.

Once you’ve decided to work with the specialist, they will kick off work by requesting access to your Square Online account via Team Permissions in the Dashboard. If the specialist is supporting you with any marketing-related activities, they will request access to those accounts too. You will then receive an “Account Access Guide” from your specialist with step-by-step instructions on how to grant Team Permissions access to them.

Once all work is complete, you can deactivate the specialist as a team member through the Dashboard. It is up to you how long you give them access to your account.

How to modify Team Permissions

Payments are processed between you and the specialist. The specialist will work with you on an agreed-upon payment schedule. Most specialists will collect a down payment and a final payment once all work is complete. They will bill you directly, and these charges will not display on your Square account.

If you want to work with the specialist again, you will need to submit a new project brief. This allows Square to track your project and offer support as needed.
